Just curious as to how some of the new members are finding this forum. It is likely that you heard about us from another forum or word of mouth.
Many of the initial members followed Stephen over from the TDPRI forum (all about Telecasters). Since this is currently a free hosted site, it is difficult for Stephen to get the search engines to locate us.
Any way, please feel free to share your short story about how you got here.
BTW, any suggestions on how to solicite more members would be great. Tell everyone that you know.
Oh yeah - WELCOME!!!!!

The Telecaster Discussion Page RI, has the forum about Sunday Morning Superstars. I "followed" Stephen's link.
There is another Christian Guitarist's forum you could proselytize:

Well, I got invited awhile back by Stephen through a PM at you guessed it - TDPRI! I've only posted here once so far (I just joined), but I'm looking forward to being part of what appears to be an awesome fellowship! I'm not a church musician, but I'm a Christian and I play guitar, so I hope I'm allowed. :-) I always wondered why TDPRI was such a friendly website, now I know after seeing how many of it's members are part of God's family. There's lots of salt and light over there!!! Glad to be here. Thanks to Stephen for the invite!

Our paths may have crossed also. I grew up near White Rock Lake. My wife lived in Garland up until about 1980. We got married in '84 (after knowing each other 9 years). Then in '94~'95, we moved into her childhood home where her mother still lived. She went to South Garland and I went to Skyline. We sold that house in Garland and moved to Plano in '00.
I also have a friend that lives in Terrell. My brother used to work (as a Dallas fireman) with the mayor of Terrell. I also worked for Titus that had their main manufacturing plant at the Terrell airport. I also knew the guy that ran the antique mall at the old commercial clothes washing plant. I have made MANY a trip out to Terrell - nice little town.

I think we corresponded on TDPRI regarding the tele-jam at your church. Really hate to miss it :hissyfit , but my wife and I were really struggling at the time and needed a "date night".
When I lived in Garland and even after we moved to Terrell, I worked for the smaller of the two Garland hospitals (Community) for about 8 years. Small little cyber-world, huh?

you a lifelong Garland feller? I lived there for years. My wife lived in the same house there her whole life.Erhm... well, not exactly.
I was born in Garland - but lived in the Denver Colorado area from 7yr-25yr roughly. Then I started moving around to preach in various congregations. In '99, as the Lord would have it, we moved back to the Dallas area to work with a church (which ended up dissolving for various reasons)... and in '00 moved to the Garland area again.
North Texas is finally starting to grow on me again. We despised the climate and big city when we first got here (still don't like big city life much); but we have built some wonderful relationships (like with Reverbbb) and it's beginning to feel like "home". :angel
Now we are waiting on God's direction again. We should be almost 100% out of old-big-bad-stupid credit debt in August and that will open up opportunities again (I hope).
There you have it.

03-28-2005, 06:57 PM
Yeah, I work close to downtown Dallas. Makes me appreciate my tiny little country home soooo much!
God's blessings on your ministry endeavors! The preaching, working full time in the secular world, wife and kid who you adore gig is a tough one. Mine is halted for now, before it really took off. Thankfully I've been given a real peace about it. It's God's plan, not mine, and He's faithful to complete!

Well, seing as how I joind this forum and have been reading posts for just over a month now. I thought I should get around to introducing myself, and filling out this poll.
I found the sight by direction from someone on the Line 6 forums just like colefish did. My name is Jim, I am a somewhat new Christian. I have always know the Lord but never really listens to him or anyone else for that matter. Well, I can say that He has a verry strong will and when he wants you to do somthing He WILL make it happen (At least in my case he has). I started attending a church in May of last year and my life has been better for it ever since. I was baptised last Agust (In the Truckey River in dowtown Reno, NV). It was pretty cool (cold too). I play lead guitar in the worship band at church (if you could call it a band, we have lead guitar, bass, rythm guitar, and one vocalist, oh and a Djembe player). I can honestly say that I have been blessed in the last year through Christ and have found out that there are more Christians in the world and in my life than I had ever imagined (Praise God).
Sorry for the long post, and thanks for the forum, and thanks to the person who put the link on the Line 6 forum that guided me here. Now I get to talk and read about my two most fovorite things in this life (Jesus, and guitars).
Thanks,
Jim

Welcome aboard. Please feel free to share more of your walk. Continue to invite and share our forum with others too. We all want this to be a haven for our brothers and sisters in Christ, that share a common interest in worship music and fellowship with other Christians.

Wow! (yeah I say that alot) Its neat to see all this fellowshipping going on here! I myself dont consider this a forum, I like to think of it as a cyber-fellowship, cause its bringing all of us together in Christ! Yeah we talk about guitar's and stuff, but whenever something goes down, watch how we all huddle around the one that needs some ministering. Awesome!
Now just as a little hopeful urging: seeing we are a family, I urge you all to list what city and state and country your from in your profile, cause you may find some family living close by you! Also its nice to see that I'm talking to someone like my bro TheViking, all the way over in the Norway! Its kinda cool in my book!
Sorry to all that I havent kept up with posting in this thread, kinda busy. But I do want to say here to all our new family members here, WELCOME! I'm delighted that your here!

I try to be tactful when I invite folks from other forums. But sometimes it is difficult to be discrete when you want to spread the good news.
I hope this board becomes gigantic. This forum has already touched me and others in many ways. As you can see, it has developed a very nice culture here already.

I found this forum by doing a search on Google for "Christian Musicians Fellowship" and somehow ended up here.
"To provide an online forum for guitarists, musicians and singers where we can proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord in our lives and in the music we lift up to Him for His adoration alone!
To provide an online forum that takes us away from the established guitar/guitarist magazines which promote lust for worldly things and lifestyles that are in direct opposition to living for Jesus.
Guitarists Praise and Worship Forum!!! exists as an online fellowship for all Bible-believing Christians coming from various theological backgrounds."
Now that's what I'm talking about!

Cool. I played horn in HS & college, but never had my own horn. Back in the late '60s, I played bass guitar & horn. John Entwhistle was my hero. College had an 8D that I played. It's been decades now, so no chops left. Now I just concentrate on guitar, vocals and occasional bass.

I actually found the page indirectly via KewelPack... I valued KP's opinions about MFX pedals (GT-8 at the time in particular) and frequented his site... I started to get the sense that there was some "churchy" stuff going on... I did a Google search for KewelPack and low and behold, saw this site... I've actually been reading stuff here for a while as I've not really been an active part of a forum except for one previous unpleasant experience... So, thanks to KewelPack, you all are now stuck with me...

Glad to hear your testimony Rob, WELCOME again, you're mighty important with a connection to the head honcho, carumba!
I got the invite from a regular dude in sunglasses who is all-encompassing, everywhere, fantastic, motivating and not-so-regular at all, but an amazing poster boy too for ........ sunglasses? We both missed being "Gillette Young Guns" by about 2 years or so. :wasntme: His passion is Christ too, we know that, and a certain home-made Telcaster named Ashley, pictured atop.
I don't have a real name anymore, surrendered it before the throne in person, unless some of you know it from my guitar pics, sidekicks and crew chiefs (fellow witnesses). I left the name and the old me behind, actually died and was returned through grace to a sometimes-breathing & awake state, now in my own ministry, not a website, but a private deal for others' Health, Mind and Body, providing tangible assisting goods & tools & time & travel if necessary, and a must or as they say "crucial" to praising Jesus, finding Christian solutions and listening/following the Spirit. They, my friends, clients, brothers and sisters in voluntary, involuntary or self-acknowledged need actually call me "Doc" they do?:dunno:
I'm in it 24/7 and got to cut back or it may waste me again? Devil doesn't care for me too much, I'd say. But my ol' saying used to be Ain't Skeerd.
The medicine is right here of course, and in the Holy Bible. Always was and always will be. Many in the World would disagree, and I acknowledge differences in culture and philosophy, but it is up to God to determine what our common or different destinies shall be. :hmm: I hate sin, never a sinner. I pray for all mankind.
Ain't Skeerd of no evil, no Satan and no force that would try & stop God's deliverance in our tracks & travel. GRAB LIFE, JOHN 3:16. "Doc":coffee1::up:

It's ok, you didn't come over in a funny way at all, no offence taken. You'll clearly have to try harder :yikes:
My accent? Well dear boy (Rob bro'), I could speak like they do in the old films, now that would be absolutely spiffing, what? Or slip into my home accent which is Brummie (that means I'm from Birmingham originally), which is bostin' ain' it.
However, having lived away from Brum for some years now I don't have much of an accent at all I don't think, neutral English I suppose you could describe it as.
Grandmum a Geordie? Now there's a fantastic accent. I visited Newcastle for the first time a few months back, a lovely place indeed. I imagined it would be all smoke and chimneys, but no it's rather charming with a few surprises for the adventurous explorer.

Hi guys, I've been enjoying the info and the fellowship for a few days now after finding this place -- I think -- while searching out some info on an effects pedal. Anyway, love the atmosphere in Christ as we enjoy our interest in guitars. Quickly, using this as an intro spot, I've been playing on and off since the late '60s. I've a background in music, art, writing, media, technology--you know all the standard old hippie stuff. Since following Jesus in the mid-70s I have been involved acoustically and electrically in praise and worship as team member and leader, and gotten to travel widely in church work and missions endeavors, and in computer related work to help fund the kitty. God is so gracious and guitars are (usually) such fun. I look forward to checking in from time to time, hanging out, learning a lot, and screaming for help every now and then.
Bless you guys and girls!

I grew up in those parts, too! Can't say I miss the weather, but I do miss the general environment. Totaling a brand new 4wd car early one morning at an unplowed, unsanded, snow-packed intersection with an ice base on the way to work back around 1989 was the last straw for me. Now it's the threat of destructive earthquakes and drought. Oh well.

I would really like to find some old hymnal music written for guitar (preferably free). Can anyone help? (I guess I should start a thread for that).

Hey, we had a mild November. Little bit of snow but that all melted by Thanksgiving. We just got a little dusting last night and with the predicted temps it looks like it's all gonna stick now.
At least that's how it was in the cities...

Ok, the part with drunk snowmobilers in it... That should narrow it down to only the upper 90% of the state. LOL
