A friend of mine fixed my mid 80s Rat pedal. My rig this morning at church was:

Strat with Lawrence pickups
pedalboard with resurrected Rat
Galaxie 10 amp

This full rig sounded AWESOME! We played Voice of Truth by Casting Crowns and the Strat with the Lawrences pushing the Rat in the Galaxie sounded awesome on the power chords during the chorus. I flipped to middle pickups and rolled off the volume just a little, delay and lush chorus - sounded great during God Of Wonders - punching in the Rat for the lead break in the middle.

All in all - the whole rig sounded awesome today!!!

Just thought I'd share.

... this isn't quite my dream rig. I think were I to say I had one of those it would be a Les Paul with 57 Classics into a Vox AC30 (or a close derivative of the AC30 - Dr Z maybe).

Anyone else having good luck with their rig without dropping over a grand per piece? Unfortantely I'm on a budget so where my eyes and ears have the expensive stuff in mind, my wallet says different.

Just curious what everyone is using to get the tone they could play all day without selling blood or other body parts to do so.

Lately at church I've been using small amps with no pedals, most recently a 15 watt Vox Valvetronix. My parts are not real upfront, just basic chording with fills,so I have one clear program and one with a little hair on it.I try to set my sounds so they are touch sensitive with dynamics.I have several programmable rigs, but I like to keep it simple and let the hands do the work. Our fellowship is just now starting to get into more intense songs,so the pedalboard my come out!
When I'm doing gigs out with others,I take a few pedals or a Johnson J-Station for gigs with no backline, and direct inject.
